Scammers devise new scheme: asking to borrow phone 'for a minute'
Scammers have devised a new scheme: they ask to borrow a phone 'for a minute'. Once they have access to an unlocked smartphone, criminals can secretly enable call and SMS forwarding to their own number. After that, they can intercept verification codes and gain access to banking apps. Do not hand over your unlocked phone to strangers.
