Scandal in Vienna: Ukrainian security officers and journalists detained in espionage case
Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner confirmed the detention in Vienna of four Ukrainian citizens. Two of them are officers of Ukrainian military intelligence and remain in custody. The other two are journalist Mykhailo Tkach from Ukrainska Pravda and his camera operator. The journalists were carrying out an editorial assignment to locate former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko, who fled in September and is a suspect in an NABU case involving the protection of call centers. Local police suspected the Ukrainians of illegal surveillance and 'secret intelligence activities harmful to Austria'. Suspicions of espionage against the journalists have been dropped and they have been released. The investigation continues regarding the security officers.
