Security Council Secretary Alexander Volfovich: We do everything so that our Belarusian people live in peace
Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich: we are doing everything so that our Belarusian people live in peace.
During events dedicated to Independence Day, he noted that today our country celebrates one of the most important holidays of statehood, and this date has deep historical roots.
"Today, people across our country are visiting graves and monuments in honor of war heroes, laying flowers, remembering and paying tribute to the fallen — those who did everything so that today Belarus lives under a peaceful sky. And we have gathered here, at the Kurgan Slavy, one of the symbols of our independence, to lay flowers and remember the fallen.
We do not want what happened more than 80 years ago to repeat itself. We are doing everything possible so that our Belarusian people live in peace, fulfilling their duties: teachers in schools, doctors in hospitals, agricultural workers in the fields growing bread, and our products being renowned around the world. For this, we must spend money on developing the economy and improving social conditions for our citizens, not on war, military conflicts, and armaments, as our Western neighbors are doing today."
