Situation on the border, personnel matters, and harvest preparations reported to the President

The regional head reported to the President on the overall situation in the region, the state of the border with Ukraine and border areas, and the reaction of the population of Gomel Region to recent statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The situation, assured Ivan Krupko, is generally stable and under control despite certain complexities. Maximum attention is being paid to security issues.

The head of state conveyed his request to the residents of Gomel Region not to worry. We have everything necessary to protect the population from any aggressor, emphasized the President.

The President was also briefed on cooperation with Russian authorities and relevant Belarusian services during assistance provided after the drone attack on a bus in the Bryansk region.

Separately, personnel matters were discussed, including the performance of newly appointed district executive committee chairpersons and the chairman of the Gomel City Executive Committee. Youth personnel policy was also a focus — training promising young leaders for leadership roles. Two regional projects in agriculture and industry have already trained about 200 young specialists.

Another key topic was the region’s preparation for the grain harvest. According to Ivan Krupko, main issues have been resolved, and work is underway to prepare combines and drying facilities. The region expects to harvest about 1.1 million tons of cereal grains and around 100,000 tons of rapeseed.

Modernization projects in animal husbandry were also discussed, including the construction of calf prophylactic facilities to reduce cattle mortality. Ivan Krupko assured that all assigned tasks will be fully completed by September 1.

Regarding the socio-economic development dynamics, the governor confirmed that the regional economy is returning to planned performance levels. Agriculture is showing significant growth, industrial performance has stabilized, construction targets are being implemented, and trade is expanding. In 2026, goods exports increased by over 14% and services exports by 32%, boosting overall revenue.
