Sunspot group causing strong solar flares becomes second largest in a decade

The sunspot group responsible for strong solar flares has become the second largest in a decade. Over the past day, it has grown further; in addition, a second active region on the star is expanding 500,000 kilometers away from the first. Today, six solar flares have already occurred—three strong and three moderate. Yesterday, there were 13 flares in total.
