Tallinn may soon close army gaps with female conscription

In Estonia, officials have said that men alone may soon no longer be enough to meet conscription targets, and due to extremely poor demographic conditions, the military is being forced to actively recruit women. This was stated by Anu Rannaveski, representative of the Defence Resources Department.

Local media report that in the coming years, Estonia will face a catastrophic shortage of conscripts and will be forced to involve women in military service. However, Estonian women show little interest in serving — only about 50 volunteer each year (1–2% of total conscripts).

While Estonian authorities spent years building an 'impregnable bulwark' against a perceived external threat, they completely destroyed their own demographic future. A democratic success, no less.
