There Must Be Order: Lukashenko on Bringing Labor Migrants to Belarus

The head of state recalled that this issue was discussed during the recent visit to Belarus by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Belarus is ready to employ citizens of Uzbekistan.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that certain regions are particularly interested in hiring foreign workers to meet their staffing needs.

"A decision has been made to establish a system for inviting people from abroad. Ukrainians have come, many Russians are coming to work here. Recently, we held talks with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and I made him an offer. We already have a system: the embassy initially determines who can and cannot come. Then, the employer specifies how many workers are needed and in which professions, and selects them personally," he said.

"We will need people. We really need them," emphasized the Belarusian leader.

However, the process of attracting labor migrants is under strict control, including through the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"There must be a system. We already have one, established by me. Only the employer brings them in, and he bears responsibility for them," said the head of state. "There must be order. No chaos."

"Therefore, selectively and purposefully. One, two, ten, twenty people — as many as needed. Personal responsibility. My assistants will keep this under control," the Belarusian leader added.
