Tram tracks damaged in Leipzig and Brandenburg due to extreme heat

In Leipzig and Brandenburg, tram tracks have become unusable due to abnormal heat. According to the city transport operator LVB, high temperatures melted a special sealing compound used to seal rail joints and switches. The substance spread across the rails and switch mechanisms, and in some places hardened into dense clumps, making safe tram operations impossible.
