UK unveils £10bn 'Britannia Shield' missile defence project inspired by Iron Dome
The British Conservative Party has announced a major plan to create a national air and missile defence system costing 10 billion pounds sterling. The project, named Britannia Shield, will partially draw on the technological experience of Israel's Iron Dome. The innovative system will integrate advanced radar stations and modernised command centres, next-generation interceptor missiles, and comprehensive technologies for effectively destroying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The project also includes a significant increase in the UK's strategic stocks of anti-aircraft missiles. Shadow Defence Minister James Cartlidge stressed that the main goal of the Britannia Shield is to ensure the security of critical infrastructure, key military facilities, as well as the country's territories and its overseas bases. Conservatives plan to deploy the first elements of the system within the first term of their future government.
