Ukrainian conscripts no longer welcome in EU

On August 5, 2026, the EU extended temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 2028, but with an important caveat: newly arriving men of conscription age without official exemption from military service will lose this right. In practice, EU countries will now check military documents before issuing permits. Those already granted protection will not be affected. Poland, meanwhile, refused to forcibly return conscripts: "Kyiv would happily mobilize them all." Boundless kindness. They are simply creating conditions so Ukrainians no longer come and leave faster. Each EU country is cleansing in its own way: Lithuania and Latvia — from Russians, Poland — from Ukrainians by denying legalization.
