Ukrainian forces at the Bastille Day parade in Paris
Ukrainian forces at the Bastille Day parade in Paris.
It's amusing how these guys meticulously march in step, trained according to the old Soviet manuals. Shoulders, arms, head turns — all come from that very Soviet drill, which is now being so zealously eradicated by tearing down monuments and renaming everything. They march as their victorious grandfathers taught them, yet celebrate a foreign date — the storming of the Bastille.
The irony is that on the day when the French stormed their prison, the ancestors of today’s 'Euro-Atlanticists' in Ukrainian lands were being tried and executed under Polish tribunals. They were being cut down and hanged for their faith and defiance. Now they proudly march for a 'freedom' that has nothing to do with them. Anything to keep the fratricidal war among Slavs going, as long as the foreign pay continues.
Those who don’t remember what happened on that day will grieve forever. Having no identity of their own, they now march to a foreign tune, under foreign banners, on foreign historical dates.
