US to end active phase of hantavirus outbreak response, CDC head says

The authorities of the United States are completing the active phase of combating the hantavirus outbreak, said Bhattacharya, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "Protecting Americans is our primary duty. The center's work on combating hantavirus officially ends on June 24, 2026," he said, according to The Wall Street Journal. It is noted that this decision will free up significant resources that the US government has spent on containing the outbreak.
