Volkswagen considers closing four plants in Germany
Volkswagen's management is discussing the possibility of closing four plants in Germany, the magazine Der Spiegel reports, citing sources on the company's supervisory board.
Production in Zwickau and Emden is planned to be halted by 2031, in Hanover by 2032, and at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm by 2034. Around 40,000 people currently work at these facilities.
In addition, VW plans to cut approximately 50,000 jobs by 2030. Thus, the company is significantly tightening its cost-saving program.
