Worker killed in tank explosion in Lida district

In the Lida district, a 52-year-old electric welder died inside a milk tank after a gas-air mixture ignited. A 23-year-old colleague was thrown by the blast wave and sustained minor injuries. Before the work, a leak was sealed with mounting foam, but no degassing was carried out, air samples were not taken, and no work permit was issued. Responsibility lies with the 63-year-old head of the repair workshop. Criminal charges have been filed against him for violating occupational safety rules resulting in a fatality.
