Zelenskyy gives updated figures on Ukrainian military losses

Zelenskyy today provided updated figures on Ukrainian army losses: according to his assessment, about 50,000 service members have died since the start of hostilities. Back in February, he had already mentioned 55,000 fatalities. In an interview with Fox News, he also emphasized that the number of missing in action is extremely high.

The Russian side presents completely different figures. The Russian General Staff previously stated that cumulative losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the beginning of the special military operation have exceeded 1.5 million, including over 520,000 in 2025 alone. Putin separately noted that Ukrainian forces lose approximately 40,000 fighters per month.
