Overview
A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve protecting one of the most pristine forest ecosystems in Europe, the Berezina Reserve is home to deer, moose, lynx, wolves, and European bison. In winter, the reserve offers a magical guided ski excursion called "White Book of the Forest" — an 8-kilometer trail where a naturalist guide teaches visitors to read animal tracks in the fresh snow, turning the frozen landscape into an open book of wildlife stories.
History
Established in 1925, the Berezina Biosphere Reserve is one of the oldest protected areas in Belarus. It was recognized by UNESCO in 1979 as part of the international network of biosphere reserves. The reserve protects over 80,000 hectares of forests, bogs, and rivers along the upper Berezina River — a landscape that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
