Overview
One of the most breathtaking natural viewpoints in Belarus, where the mighty Dnieper River makes a dramatic 90-degree turn below towering banks that rise over 60 meters above the water. At dawn, the river valley fills with magical mist while a chorus of birdsong echoes from the forested slopes — an experience that feels primordial and untouched by time.
History
The dramatic landscape was shaped over millennia by the Dnieper's relentless erosion of the high western bank. A charming Soviet-era river station (1958) still stands nearby, now functioning as a private guesthouse. The "Pridneprovsky" sanatorium offers affordable accommodation with direct access to the river views.
What to see
The panoramic views from the high bank at sunrise — when the mist and light create an unforgettable scene. The dramatic 60-meter eroding cliffs. The 1958 river station building. Walking trails along the bluff edge.
Practical information
Distance from Minsk: ~210 km (2h 20min). Caution: the edges are unstable with actively eroding soil — do not approach the cliff edge. Sanatorium accommodation: 35–47 BYN/night.
Safety notice —
Some natural areas may present risks including wildlife encounters and tick-borne diseases. In certain areas and seasons, we recommend hiring a professional local guide.
