Overview
One of the largest Baroque architectural ensembles in Belarus, the Franciscan Monastery complex in Pinsk centers on the magnificent Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary — designated a Minor Basilica by the Vatican. The complex features a historic 1830s organ with approximately 1,500 pipes, some reaching 4 meters tall.
History
Developed over the 17th and 18th centuries, the monastery grew into a major religious and cultural center of the Polesie region. The long monastery buildings, interior courtyards, and imposing church tower create a harmonious Baroque composition. The bell tower has a noticeable lean, earning it the affectionate nickname "Pinsk's Tower of Pisa."
