Overview
The Pripyatsky National Park protects a vast expanse of Polesie wetlands, forests, and floodplains along the Pripyat River. Its safari park offers guided tours where visitors observe deer, moose, and wild boar in semi-natural conditions. The park is also home to "Polsky Zyuzya" — a unique Belarusian mythological winter deity, whose forest residence incorporates ancient Slavic traditions, Polesie ethnography, and a reconstructed ancient settlement with sculptures of pagan gods.
History
Polesie — the vast wetland region straddling southern Belarus — has preserved pre-Christian Slavic traditions longer than any other part of Europe. "Zyuzya" is the Belarusian mythological god of winter, far older than the Russian Ded Moroz tradition. The national park chose to revive this unique cultural figure rather than copy the standard Grandfather Frost format, creating an attraction rooted in authentic local folklore.
What to see
