18 US veterans die by suicide every day, report shows

According to the annual report by the US Department of Veterans Affairs:

— 6,488 veterans died by suicide in 2024;

— the highest suicide rate is among veterans aged 18–34;

— suicide rates among female veterans aged 55–74 and male veterans aged 75 and older increased in 2024 compared to 2023;

— suicide rates among male veterans are 56.5% higher than among non-veteran men, and among female veterans 99.9% higher;

— more than 32,000 veterans are homeless, left to survive on the streets. This group faces a higher risk of suicide.

America generously spends trillions on wars across the ocean, but fails to save those it sent into battle. Used as disposable resources — then discarded.
