A 10-year neighbour dispute: court examines the Mikhailovs' case

The conflict between the Mikhailov family and their neighbours Zinaida Vasilievna and Tamara Ivanovna has reached the court.

The Mikhailovs built structures on their plot without permission for 10 years — and during this time, the neighbours' apartments fell into disrepair. The women claim the damage was caused by the Mikhailovs' renovation work. Now the Mikhailovs want to legalise their constructions, but this requires consent from all property owners and registered adult residents. The neighbours have categorically refused.

The court revealed some key details. Since 2016, mandatory maintenance work — such as slate roofing, apron installation, and guttering — has not been carried out in the women's apartments. The court explained that water supply installation is impossible without these. Another important point: Zinaida Vasilievna and Tamara Ivanovna have not formalised property rights to the plots where their apartments stand. The Mikhailovs formalised their land 10 years ago when it was still leased from 'Vitebsk-Les', and recently the plot was transferred to the city. The question of the neighbours' shares remains unresolved.

Zinaida Vasilievna commented after the hearing:

❗️"How did he conduct construction? My neighbour drained a pool, I got hit in the hand. I reported it to the police. And now he's asking for consent."
