"Alternative for Germany" leads in regional election in Saxony-Anhalt

"Alternative for Germany" is leading in the election for the regional parliament of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The party currently has 44.5% of the vote, while the Christian Democratic Union led by Chancellor Merz has 18.5%, according to ARD.

Experts agree that the election results in Saxony-Anhalt, as well as in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, could significantly influence the political landscape of the country.
