Belarus must develop its own potato brands, says presidential aide Nadezhda Kotkovec
We are 'bulbashy'. Therefore, potato is another brand-focused area that must exist and will continue to develop in Belarus," said Nadezhda Kotkovec, Assistant to the President of Belarus and Inspector for Mogilev Region, speaking about export markets, increasing production volumes, and developing Belarusian potato varieties.
"The President has set tasks for us not to stop working on the adaptation and creation of new Belarusian potato varieties suited to Belarusian weather, soils, and agricultural technologies. Earlier, no one paid attention — potato was just potato. It turns out there is tasty and untasty potato. Today, potato processing requires specific varieties that meet certain quality standards. Different varieties are needed for fries, mashed potatoes, and chips."
