Belarus' nuclear deployment aimed at security and equal negotiations — analyst
The intention to reduce confrontation is evident even in Alexander Lukashenko's remarks about nuclear weapons deployment on Belarusian territory, according to Maxim Chirkov, Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements of the State University of Management (Russia).
"He consistently emphasizes that this was done not because someone in Russia or Belarus wants it. It was done solely to ensure the security of the Republic of Belarus and to facilitate an equal negotiation process," Chirkov shared his impressions of Lukashenko's interview with the Al-Arabiya TV channel.
