Belarus stresses full scope of human rights at OSCE PA committee meeting

Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs Sergei Rachkov, as part of a Belarusian parliamentary delegation, participated in the meeting of the OSCE PA General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues.

Key points from the Belarusian side:

1️⃣ Humanitarian dimension crisis: Sergei Rachkov emphasized that the OSCE's humanitarian dimension was intended as a space for building trust, promoting mutual understanding, and finding unifying solutions. However, today it is increasingly becoming an arena of political confrontation.

2️⃣ Double standards: Minsk expressed particular concern over the practice of dividing countries into 'right' and 'wrong' ones. Human rights issues are increasingly being used as a destructive tool for political pressure and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

3️⃣ Full scope of rights and historical memory: Belarus is convinced that human rights must be considered in their entirety—including the right to work, education, healthcare, social protection, and preservation of cultural identity. At the same time, Minsk considers any forms of glorification of Nazism, justification of war crimes, attempts to rewrite history, and destruction of historical memory unacceptable.
