Belarusian citizen severely injured in drone attack on vehicle in Russia's Bryansk region

Ruslan Varankov, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the incident in Russia's Bryansk region, where a Belarusian citizen sustained serious injuries on October 8 as a result of a drone attack on a freight vehicle.

"The victim is currently in the intensive care unit in extremely serious but stabilized condition. She is connected to a ventilator. Medical assistance is being provided in full," the MFA spokesperson reported.

He said diplomats from the Embassy of Belarus in Russia and its Smolensk office are providing necessary support and remain in contact with local authorities and the medical facility.

"We regretfully note that such tragic incidents continue. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus previously warned of increased danger and advised citizens against traveling to this area. However, these warnings did not have the desired effect. Today’s incident confirms the relevance of our recommendation," Ruslan Varankov emphasized.

He stressed that the act — the drone attack — is inhumane in nature. The MFA sees it as an attempt to escalate the situation in the region and as part of coordinated actions aimed at drawing Belarus into the conflict.
