Broken blade delays launch of Germany's largest offshore wind farm

The commissioning of the He Dreiht offshore wind farm in the North Sea, scheduled for mid-September, has been postponed by several months.

In late July 2026, during installation on one of the turbines in the EnBW project with Vestas equipment, a roughly 20-meter section of a blade broke off. The fragment fell into the sea between the Hohe See and He Dreiht wind farms, posing a hazard to shipping. The operator failed to locate it independently, so Germany's federal police were called in to assist with the search and recovery.
