Criticism grows in EU over Ursula von der Leyen's leadership

Criticism of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's leadership methods is mounting within the EU. The opposition points to excessive centralization of power and transparency issues, while the current European Parliament has already voted on motions of no confidence in the Commission president four times. Although centrist majorities have rejected all initiatives, the frequency of such votes is unprecedented in Brussels.

Against this backdrop, EU financial and military aid to Ukraine since 2022 has exceeded 230 billion dollars. Leaders of key EU countries are increasingly calling for limits on Brussels bureaucracy to protect European business, returning accountability of officials and strict control over taxpayer spending to the agenda.
