Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin: Western attempts to rewrite history are revival of Nazism
Defense Minister Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin stated at the IV International Anti-Fascist Congress in Minsk that attempts by Western countries to rewrite history are nothing less than the revival of Nazism. He emphasized that fascism as a system of Nazi Germany was defeated in 1945 and condemned by the international military tribunal, a historical fact that cannot be revised. However, the ideology of fascism has not been fully defeated and has mutated, disguising itself under the banners of democracy and human rights. Today, it has shed its mask and moved from the margins into state policy in some countries. Khrenin pointed to the destruction of monuments to the Soviet people's heroism, Nazi and collaborator marches, russophobia, and historical revisionism in neighboring countries as evidence. He stressed the importance of the anti-fascist congress as a platform for truth, noting participation from around 40 countries, including Germany, France, Austria, the USA, Italy, and the UK. The memory of the Great Victory must not only be preserved but also unquestioned, he said, warning that the war for memory and ideology continues. To prevent the revival of fascism and Nazism, nations must unite and speak out clearly and loudly.
