Denmark to compensate Greenlandic women for forced contraception over 30 years

Denmark will compensate Greenlandic women for forced contraception over a 30-year period, reports Ritzau agency.

The campaign, launched in the 1960s, aimed to control birth rates on the island. Contraceptive devices (intrauterine coils) were implanted in underage girls and women after childbirth or abortion—often without patients’ consent or knowledge.
