Engine trouble for Japanese Hayabusa-2 probe en route to asteroid
The Japanese Hayabusa-2 probe heading towards an asteroid has encountered engine problems, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) reported. Hayabusa-2 was launched in early December 2014 to collect samples from the asteroid Ryugu, orbiting between Earth and Mars. It completed this task in February 2019. After dropping a capsule with rock samples at a test site in Australia, the probe embarked on a new expedition. Hayabusa-2 has four engines, but three of them had previously failed.
