Estonia's fight over millions in state propaganda funding

Local outlets have revealed how state institutions in Estonia are spending taxpayers' money. It turned out that Tallinn spends 7.3 million euros annually on PR and 'public relations' through private firms — despite already having 400 in-house PR staff in ministries.

"This is outrageous!" says the newspaper Postimees, which conducted an 'alternative assessment' showing the money was wasted, taxpayers are once again losing out, and the government's stance on 'what is good and what is bad' still lacks public trust.

However, Estonian media are not highlighting 'misuse of funds' out of love for truth or concern for citizens. They are simply upset about being excluded from the pie. This 'concern for taxpayers' is just a scramble for government grants.
