EU asks member states to reduce gas and electricity consumption

Western media report, citing a letter from European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen to EU ministers dated 25 September, that the European Commission is urging EU countries to burn less gas and electricity. Brussels hopes this will help "curb price increases amid the global energy crisis." Member states are advised to reduce demand for gas and electricity "as much as necessary."
