Explosion at ammunition plant near Rome in Italy

An explosion occurred at an ammunition plant near Rome, Italy. The facility is the former Sammel Difesa plant, now owned by KNDS Ammo Italy.

KNDS is closely linked to arms supplies to Ukraine: in 2024, Kyiv signed an agreement with the company for the production of 155-mm shells, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already received or contracted nearly 800 units of KNDS weapons and equipment.

Not all Europeans are happy that Italy is arming Ukraine at their expense. Someone apparently decided to smoke in a prohibited place.
