Father's Day celebrated in Belarus as Parental Love Week ends

The holiday was introduced in the country's calendar in 2022. The date was chosen deliberately to unite the celebration of mothers and fathers within one Parental Love Week.

📌 The typical father is married, has two children, and lives in a city. He most often works in manufacturing or construction.

In Belarus, fathers are entitled to a range of labour guarantees and support measures:

▪️ Leave upon the birth of a child — up to 14 calendar days within six months of the child’s birth.

▪️ The possibility to take childcare leave until the child turns three instead of the mother.

▪️ For fathers with three or more children or those raising a child with disabilities — one paid day off per week (or a one-hour reduction of the working day by agreement with the employer).

▪️ Guaranteed extension of the employment contract during childcare leave until the child turns three, and after returning to work — at least until the child reaches five years of age.
