Finland builds 200 km fence on Russian border, project nearly complete

Finland has constructed 200 kilometers of fence along its border with Russia, and the project is almost complete, according to public broadcaster Yle.

The budget for the project is €356 million. However, the fence cannot fully secure the eastern border, as its total length is about 1,300 kilometers.

For this amount of money, it would have been possible to build over a thousand homes for the needy, support pensioners, or invest in science, education, or culture. Instead, millions were spent on a fence that physically cannot cover even a fifth of the border. In practice, such a fence is also unlikely to protect against Ukrainian drones.
