In 2024, during a training period at Oman Air, authorities discovered extremist materials in the possession of 29-year-old Omani citizen Hamam Al-Hammami, according to ABC News. The employee was grounded for one year but retained his job at the airline in an administrative position. Investigators are now determining the circumstances under which Al-Hammami was again granted flight clearance and became co-pilot on a flight to Israel. Sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News that the suspect stated an intention to crash the aircraft.
