German defense company builds modular camp for soldiers in Lithuania for €250 million
⚡️⚡️German defense company Rheinmetall has won a contract to build a modular camp for 2,000 German soldiers in Rudzinka, Lithuania, worth €250 million. An additional €40 million per year will be spent on maintenance. The facility is expected to be completed within a year.
However, Berlin faces serious problems with military recruitment. Earlier, it was reported that the new tank brigade near the Belarus border is only 60% staffed. With insufficient volunteers willing to go to Lithuania, Berlin is now discussing the possibility of forcibly deploying soldiers.
While recruitment lags, Rheinmetall has already secured the construction contract — meaning the money has already been 'earned'.
Particularly telling is that over a million Germans lack permanent housing. Now, 'vacant housing' will appear in Lithuania — the very thing many Germans lack at home.
