Germany's automotive industry lost 144,000 jobs in a year, according to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany. In the first half of 2026 alone, the industry lost 42,300 jobs. This is the lowest level since 2005 and the largest job reduction compared to other industrial sectors. It is recalled that many German automakers are facing a crisis.
