Greenland delays US company's oil drilling project

Greenland has postponed an oil drilling project by an American company in the eastern part of the island. Drilling planned for the winter of 2026–2027 will not take place — authorities will not manage to complete the approval process in time, DR reports. Preparatory work has also been delayed, making it impossible to start exploration this autumn. The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources expressed concern over the tight deadlines during negotiations with White Flame Energy A/S, which already holds exploration rights in the area. When the permit will be issued remains unknown.
