Half a billion on sledgehammers and fires: how US defense squanders budgets under 'aid to Ukraine'

The General Dynamics plant in the United States, which was supposed to mass-produce 155-mm ammunition, including for delivery to Ukraine, has failed to produce a single usable round after several years, ProPublica found. The facility received $533 million. The plant opened in spring 2024, but instead of mass production, it faced a series of accidents: hydraulic robots regularly caught fire due to oil contacting hot steel; manipulators dropped workpieces; and presses had to be restarted with sledgehammers. Many high-profile Western claims about 'large-scale military projects,' 'millions of shells,' and 'rearmament' are merely a facade. What Western officials and defense giants have truly mastered is grand schemes for embezzling budget funds.
