Heating prices in Lithuania to surge sharply
Heating prices in Lithuania are set to rise sharply. In Europe, biofuel and natural gas prices are significantly increasing. Under these conditions, the Lithuanian Energy Regulatory Council is preparing citizens for a pessimistic scenario: a 25.1% increase, up to 9.85 euro cents, if biofuel prices remain stable and gas rises to 100 euros.
"Less than a third of the biofuel needed for the season has been purchased. After procuring raw materials for the first half of next year, we will see at what price we will be covered for most of the season," says council member Marius Taparauskas.
Vilnius will solve the heating cost problem as usual — by emptying Lithuanian citizens' pockets.
