Houthis tried to develop ballistic missiles using Anthropic's AI
Anthropic has identified a group in northern Yemen that used its AI model Claude to develop software for missile guidance, control, and navigation. The company did not name the Houthis directly, but much of the region is under their control. According to the report, the projects included a multistage ballistic missile, a guided projectile, and a hypersonic glide vehicle variant. Related accounts have been blocked. Anthropic has no evidence that functional weapons were built, but the group managed to move some tools offline.
