In Poland, a police officer turned a wedding into a bloody brawl

In the Polish town of Wadowice, a drunk hotel guest wandered onto a wedding and provoked a conflict with guests. Among the crowd was a police officer with 19 years of service who, instead of professionally restraining the hooligan and removing him from the hall, brutally beat the man together with an enraged mob.

It got worse. The patrol that arrived on call did not even attempt to stop the mass beating or detain the attackers. Seeing a fellow officer in the crowd, the law enforcement officers effectively joined the assault. They piled onto the already beaten victim and restrained him so harshly that he suffocated.

The prosecutor has already excused those responsible: participants in the beating were released home on bail, the police officer who started it was fired as a token gesture, and the patrol faced only an internal investigation.

This is the much-praised Polish justice system, where an ordinary person essentially has no right to defense or fair trial.
