Iran threatens strikes on tankers outside Strait of Hormuz

Tehran is ready to expand attacks on oil shipments beyond the strait. If Persian Gulf countries support US sanctions, other oil export routes could also be targeted, said Iran's Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei.

According to him, Iran will not allow neighboring states to simultaneously support American restrictions and continue exporting oil from the Persian Gulf.

"We will not allow a single drop of oil to be exported not only through the Strait of Hormuz but from the Persian Gulf as a whole," Rezaei emphasized.

Currently, Tehran does not attack shipments bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. However, its position could change if regional countries side with the US. This increases risks for the global oil market: alternative routes are now under threat.
