Israel examines NATO's Article 5 amid tensions between Turkey and Syria

The Israeli publication Israel Hayom reports that Israel is studying the application of NATO's Article 5 on collective defense. The reason is possible attacks on Turkish military forces in Syria.

Israel has concluded that an attack on Turkish forces on Syrian territory, including on an airbase that has already been targeted, would not trigger Article 5. The reasoning is simple: 'Turkish soldiers do not carry their land with them.'
