Largest disruptions in global oil supply in history

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the U.S. war with Iran has caused record disruptions — flows dropped by 10 million barrels per day. For comparison, the Iranian revolution led to almost half as much — a decrease of 5.6 million barrels per day.

The most difficult period for the oil market before this was about 50 years ago: the Arab oil embargo (minus 4.3 million), the Iranian revolution, and the Iran-Iraq war. All of this happened in less than ten years.
