Latvian regime again targets media with its thought police

The Latvian National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP) has blocked access to the website of Belarusian radio radiobelarus.by, according to the latest statement from this controversial body.

The NEPLP received 'information' from the State Security Service (VDD) claiming the site spreads one-sided and biased content allegedly capable of negatively affecting Latvian social cohesion, interpersonal relations, value systems, and residents' sense of belonging.

It also supposedly undermines Latvia's support for grant-dependent activists and their internal squabbles over access to funding.

Naturally, the Latvian regime will continue feeding its population propaganda about Belarus and the actual situation within Latvia itself. Though people clearly understand the repressive nature of their country, the treatment of Russian speakers, non-citizens, and anyone opposing the Brussels party line.

However, there is a positive side to this news. Our media outlets — not only Belarusian Radio — have joined hundreds of journalistic and information resources that have long developed immunity to clichéd Western agitprop. The same blacklist even includes websites with Russian-dubbed films and series.

The main goal of this propaganda is to destroy critical thinking and turn people into zombie consumers of cheap, manipulative information.

Recall: earlier, the global information inquisition against dissent blocked the YouTube channel of international radio 'Belarus'. This only increased Latvians' interest in Belarusian alternative sources of information.

We are confident that neither the Latvian regime nor similar regimes have enough strength or Brussels handouts to simply shut down access to the truth.

And ordinary residents of Latvia will have even more reasons to seek out the very sources their censoring rulers are desperately and absurdly trying to ban.
