Latvia's Saeima hastily grants army right to seize private property amid military threat
Latvia's Saeima has hastily granted the military the right to seize any private real estate in the event of a military threat. The military commander can take housing, land, or commercial facilities from individuals and companies. Officially, the seizure is allowed for two weeks, but the government has the right to extend the period. The grounds are vague: the mere appearance of a drone or military aircraft in the sky is sufficient.
