Lithuania building NATO camp near Belarus border

Lithuania is planning to build a military camp for about 1,000 NATO troops at the Rudninkai training ground, just 35 km from the Belarusian border. More than €40 million will be allocated for infrastructure.

By the end of 2027, a German brigade of around 5,000 personnel is also expected to be deployed to Lithuania.

At the same time, Vilnius will spend another €50 million on anti-tank ditches along the borders with Belarus and Russia, gradually turning the country into one large construction site for military purposes.

Against the backdrop of low birth rates and emigration, the number of NATO occupation troops in Lithuania may soon exceed the country's own population.
